![]() One thing that seems to trip a lot of people over is that TPF2 isn't about making money. If you play it like a giant railways sandbox or if you like to create your own maps, you will probably love it a lot more than TPF1. My personal judgement is that the game is a lot more frustrating and unchallenging to play as an economic simulation iin comparison to TPF1, while the map editor has really improved a lot the creative aspect of the game. An I7 and 32GB of RAM are highly recommended to enjoy the bigger maps with full graphics. The game is a lot more RAM and CPU hungry than TPF1. The city population is now capped (and you can't raise that cap, so a city that is capped at 50 will be always 50 but this number will be raised temporarily by the multiplier effect). You can no longer influence the long term city growth as you did in TPF1, but you can influence a population multiplier. Also, every town will now accept only two freight types, limiting a lot your cargo choices. Industries output has been reduced a lot, so you can no longer serve all your towns, unless you play an unrealistic map with hundreds of industries. You can only save your preferences in the editor, but it's pretty useless because it applies only to new maps that you create, not to downloaded maps where you have to manually add the mods. You can no longer save your preferred list of MODS to play in a free game. The mods management is unnecessarily more complicated that it was in TPF1. Only if you play maps with few industries and rough terrain it's still challenging. So yes, the game is a lot easier even at hard level. Vehicles replacement is no longer necessary, at least if you don't care of the new, useless, emissions feature, that even if maxed out, will just lower a bit the attractiveness of your lines. Raising maintenance costs are gone too and the loans interests has been halved. The economy has been dumbed down to attract casual players, features like the fact that you had to complete chains before the industries start producing, or the two types of passengers that preferred different transport options, are now gone. I calculated that for every basic operation I need to click at least twice the number of times that I did in TPF1, even because the tabs keep closing by themselves and you have to reopen it a lot of times, a thing that could also be useful in certain cases, but they forgot to make an option to disable it. The UI is totally wrecked and insanely more cumbersome to use than the TPF1 one. Now, though, the list of drawbacks from TPF1 is quite impressive: These are the main improvements in my opinion. The bigger enhancements IMHO are the map editor, the new beautiful graphics, and the opportunity to change the years speed at your will, or even to stop the time at a certain date and play that epoch all the time you want. But there are several big differences from TPF1. First of all, the core game is basically the same, this is a bit more like a Transport Fever GOLD (or 1.5) than a real TPF 2.0.
